FAQs on Minster Alarms York intruder alarms, CCTV systems, fire alarms & more

What should I do if I experience a problem with my system after installation is complete?

Simply call our office helpline: 01904 466 400. We'll be ready to respond 24-hours-a-day, 365-days-a-year. If you call us during office hours you will reach our central support team; if you call at another time you will be forwarded to one of our on-call engineers. We aim to respond to all issues within four hours.

Will my pets set off my alarm system?

Yes, depending on their size, they may well. We can install pet friendly sensors to ensure your furry family members don't set any alarm bells ringing.

What happens to my alarm system if there is a power cut?

Provided your security system is regularly maintained, the battery back-up in your control panel will be ready to kick-in and continue providing the security you need for up to eight hours.

What happens when my monitored alarm is activated?

If your alarm system has been triggered accidentally and the property's security has not been compromised, you can call the Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) to prevent them from notifying the police and keyholders. Some Minster Alarms York intruder alarms and fire alarms can be reset remotely in the event of an accidental activation – you will need to quote your password for identity verification purposes if requesting this service of the ARC. In the event of a genuine or potentially genuine alarm activation, one of our engineers will need to come out to investigate and reset the alarm.

Will my monitored alarm work on a telephone line with Broadband?

Yes, but in some instances it will require an ADSL filter. Please contact us if you require further clarification.

Can I remotely set and unset my alarm from my smartphone?

A free app is available to download to your phone or tablet which allows total control of your new intruder alarm.

Can my alarm line share a phone line with other devices, such as a fax machine?

In most cases, yes, so long as it has a filter fitted. We are happy to arrange this.

How do I change my keyholder details?

You can change keyholder details and advise us of temporary keyholder changes via email: , fax: 01904 466401, or in writing to:

Minster Alarms,
Suncliffe House,
New Lane,
Huntington,
York
YO32 9NQ

Both our and the Alarm Receiving Centre's files will be updated upon receipt of your keyholder change notification.

Can Minster Alarms service a security system installed by another company?

We're always happy to help, so long as we're familiar with the equipment in-use – and there's not much security or fire safety equipment we have yet to encounter! Please contact us for more information.
